Achieving higher temperatures for processes of any application is becoming increasingly important in industries of all kinds. Be it for the development of new products or the increase of process speeds. A wider range of available temperatures expands opportunities in many ways. The biggest challenge is to stably convert technology for achieving these temperatures with industrial scale furnace plants. After one year of development activities, SAB has now succeeded for the first time in the form of a fully automated industrial furnace plant, with a temperature range of up to 2,500°C. Due to the fact that until now industrial furnace plants of this kind available on the market have only been able to reach process temperatures of 2,100°C, this achievement is valued in the international hard metal powder industry as a significant innovation and further development. Thanks to an ingenious automation concept, additional advantages could be realised in the form of higher production speeds and more stable processes.
The focus of SAB was not simply to “just” continue to develop proven designs, but rather to raise developmental work to an even better, and thus more individualised design of the overall construction. This is reflected both in the implementation of all of the highly advanced technical challenges, as well as the many details that have been newly developed, with the aim of optimising customer value. Particular attention was paid by the SAB team to a high degree of user-friendliness of the furnace and process automation. Thanks to the many years of expertise of the SAB employees in all departments, the avoidance of unnecessary project interfaces, which many customers valued, could be realised.
With this development in the field of thermal processing plants, SAB has remained true to its chosen path. There are many details, which certainly make it clear at first glance, of how committed the Austrian technology leader was to its own claim. Customer value is in the foreground, and this requires individual and well thought-out solutions.
